One Night in Bangkok, Part 2

Lol that is why you stay out of anything but a metered Taxi. You can also tell they don't know to go upstairs and grab a departing cab its 300Bht into town(Or Skytrain into Pathana for 120Bht). At least they did not end up with gems suits and relics. If they gave the guy 5$ + 20baht (.66) that is pretty decent for a day.
And you do have to wear pants in the Grand Palace it holds one of the most sacred Thai objects in the country (Jade Buddha). You would be amazed at how people do not grasp the concept of showing respect in sacred places. I watched some German tourist scream at some poor woman because he had to wear pants in the Wat WTF. The best part is I saw the guy an hour later with the funniest pants you can imagine on. That is the Thai way he may have yelled but she got him back by making him wear floral dayglo sweatpants :)

One Night In Bangkok Update

Day one, piece of cake and a good learning experience. It is enlightening to see how people learn in different cultures. I love a city that is moving 24/7 no matter what time it is there. Always something interesting going on in Bangkok. It's a great people watching city; being a man for sure. I feel spoiled here, it's very easy to be happy without having to make life so complex.

One Night In Bangkok

Its nice to have days when you do not have a care in the world and everything is just great. Tomorrow I start down a new path in a far off land enjoying the unique opportunity being a man of the world provides. There are times I think about the mass of humanity around me and enjoy the diversity of living in a world class city like Bangkok.

Car Accident
I rear-ended a car this morning. There we were alongside the road and slowly the other driver got out of his car. You know how sometimes you just get so stressed and little things just seem funny? Yeah, well I couldn't believe it. He was a DWARF! He stormed over to my car, looked up at me, and shouted, "I AM NOT HAPPY! "So, I looked down at him and said, "Well, then which one are you?" And then the fight started.

On being stubborn
It's no secret that I can be damn stubborn when I feel I'm right about something. If I'm wrong, I'm gonna make you prove it to me. It's not a bad thing if you are talking cars, computers, or other everyday things. But when it comes to making choices about the health and well being of someone I love, I abandon my pride and base my opinions solely on the facts. Others would be well advised to do the same.

Seafood Pasta with Sherry Tomato Cream Sauce

Ingredients
* Salt
* 1 1/2 pound penne rigate or bow tie pasta
* 3 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
* 1/2 pound shiitake mushrooms, stemmed and sliced
* 2 large shallots, chopped
* 3 to 4 cloves garlic, finely chopped or grated
* A pinch or 2 crushed red pepper flakes
* 1/2 cup dry sherry
* 1/2 cup chicken stock or seafood stock
* 1 (15-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
* 1 pound shelled, cooked or raw bulk lobster pieces
* 1 teaspoon lemon zest
* Salt and freshly ground black pepper
* 1/2 cup cream
* A handful chopped chives or parsley or both
Directions
In a large saucepan boil water for the pasta. When water begins to boil add salt liberally, let water return to a boil and cook pasta to al dente. Drain.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat with olive oil, 3 turns of the pan. Add mushrooms, shallots and garlic, red pepper flakes and saute 5 minutes. Deglaze the pan with sherry, stir in stock and tomatoes and bring to a bubble. If using raw seafood, season with lemon zest, salt, and pepper. Raise the heat a bit then add the seasoned seafood and heat through or cook until just about firm and opaque, a couple of minutes. If using cooked seafood, season the seafood when you add it to skillet with lemon zest, salt and pepper.
Stir in heavy cream and toss hot pasta with sauce and chives and/or parsley, adjust seasoning and serve.

The Eagles
At the start of the season, I figured the Eagles would be lucky to finish better than 4th in NFC East, what w/ trading the franchise QB, handing it over to the iffy backup and then to a dog-killing felon. Now the franchise QB is looking for another franchise, the backup is backing up, the dog killer has become a surprising redemption story and the Eagles are the only East team in the playoffs. Crazy.
